CRAZY that school is starting next week! We're gearing up here - life will be insanely busy during MWF with preschool thrown into the morning mix of getting the 1st grader out the door . . . I secretly can't wait until next year when Gavin is in kindergarten just so I don't have to drive anywhere for ONE year! Heavenly . . . just Mason and I for an afternoon!!! I know . . . I shouldn't wish anything away . . .BUT!!!

It's been a while since I've posted - my Sturgis trip is still kicking my butt & I'm still feeling behind ever since! My design life has a hard time being on hold for an entire week - or I can flatter my ego and say I'm in desperate NEED with my clients:) Ha . . .

I can't believe Braiden is turning 7 and Mason is turning 2!!! Thank GOD they really like eachother or this "double birthday" idea wouldn't be quite as fun - they're stuck with it forever since Kevin's family lives so far away and can only make it up to one party! Can you say WOW?

Kevin and I celebrated our
9 YEAR anniversary yesterday!!!!

Aren't we in great anniversary attire??? that's how we do it in this family:)

The best grandma ever came up yesterday afternoon to watch the boys so we could get out on our big date night . . . . we jumped on the old "rat bike" (kevin's first panhead) which has no foot pegs - i have to wrap my legs around kevin like i'm sitting cross-legged - ULTRA comfortable:) We then rode out to Cpt Jack's on Prior Lake, has a great dinner then proceeded to just stop for "one" at Major's in AV which ended the night later than expected - isn't that what always happens??? run into friends, they twist your arm to stay etc . . .

thankfully, grandma let us sleep in . . .

A Taste of "a week in my insanely crazy design life . . ."

Why is that since i'm a SAHM that I often feel that I need to justify my busy day? Any and all SAHM's are b-u-s-y and I wish people would understand that . . . doesn't matter if you're "just" (hahaha) taking care of the kids or if you're like me and "work" while the kids are at home with you . . .

anyhoo - here are some recent "justifications" of my crazy/busy/insane design life . . . this is only this past WEEK:

1. Gavin's bday invite (and then to think about planning his party in a few weeks - yikes!)

2. Wilsons Leather site - one of my corporate jobs that i do every day . . .

3. It's graduation season!!! Heather's announcement . . .

4. Digital design - 8x10 for a client

5. more graduation announcements - caroline's and nick's . . . have to finish printing/folding the girls' - nick is out the door . . .

6. Doing TONS of necklaces and loving it!!! a new found passion - could do this, and only this, for my true "job". I've got 7 on my plate to get designed and produced this week so they can get them for mom's day . . .

7. WEDDINGS are huge right now - i'm juggling 8 that range from June - Oct . . . love to design/create - hate to actually print them . . . and no, i don't put them together -thank god!!!

8. (not shown because it's TOP SECERET - ha) ~ more wonderful stamps for angela:) That's a fun thing that i get zero time to spend on . . .

Since Angela was so thoughtful to add me to her "tagged" list here goes!

1. I LOVE early mornings - the kind of mornings where it's dead quite, the kids won't be up for an hour and i can drink my first cup of coffee and check my email in peace! summer mornings are my favorite . . . just knowing that i've got a whole day ahead of me and i'm in charge of how it's going to go!

2. My computer's desktop looks like a tornado - maybe it's a symbol of my brain and how much is going on. sometimes it bugs me, sometimes i'm fine - all i know is i don't think they make an external hardrive LARGE enough for my creativity!! that's probably a good thing, right?

3. Strangely enough, one of my hips is a tad higher than the other - an annoyance i had to live with through the years of getting dresses altered for prom!

4. I love cereal - somedays i could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

5. I feel like my creativity has to take me somewhere or it's a waste - I can't go one day without designing or working on something. Always trying new ideas and adventures . . . part of being a designer - it's in your blood.

6. I'm attempting a garden this year as part of my new years resolution to do more "me" time. Our house is full of little seedlings in every window - not sure what i got myself into . . .

7. I would love to have more hours in the day so I could enjoy my kids more, get the house clean and maybe catch a few more ZZzzzz's . . .

THE NECKLACES WERE A HIT!

My gpa's 90th bday party was a complete success and the necklaces were a hit! Everyone was surprised - my mom didn't even know:) So fun!!! Here are some pictures to share - the brothers & sisters getting the necklaces, the grandkids and gpa, and gpa (on the right) and his brother enjoying the evening after the party . . . it was a late one!

The "Heritage" Continues . . .

I'm adding more things to my long list of obsessions now . . . these heritage necklaces & tree ornaments are going to be presents for my 5 aunts & uncles and my mom this wknd at my gpa's 90th bday party. . . undoubtedly there'll be cheers & tears since it's a life journey of my grandparents and all their years of unconditional love . . . I can't wait!!! The square pieces you see are for my uncles and will be tree ornaments - my aunts will receive 2 necklaces each (1x3 & 1x2 sizes) that hang on ball chains . . .

I'm always looking for ways to preserve my family heritage and i think this might be my favorite so far!

I'm so happy to #1 : have a gpa that is turning 90 & is still as young as the day he turned 70, #2 : that I could make a cherrished keepsake for the whole family to enjoy! WELCOME to my first blog entry! after many urgings, i've finally gotten around to it . . . i'll try to post when i feel the need or have exciting news! websites, myspace, blogs . . . what else can i conform to!

First UP : UNITY STAMP COMPANY . . . some of you may know about this and some may not! I was selected as an official "stamp artist" for this new wonderful stamp company! go check out their blog for the unveiling of their new product!!! Now that Angela at USC is wrapping up on our first catalog of designs (and freaking out about the CHA that's coming up soon! GO ANGELA!!) i'm finally moving onto my "other" backed up side projects . . . sorry everyone! This "designing of stamps" became addicting and i would LOVE to do this all day long! I only wish i could've had more time to commit to angela . . . hopefully there will be a fall catalog!

Wedding season is officially HERE!! I had 5 consultations alone in the past 9 days . . . argh! I'm needing to clone myself:) AND graduation announcements are coming up fast too - is it spring yet?? my design life is telling me it'll be approaching quickly . . . I start to panic when i think too far ahead . . .

I TRY to get some "me" time in on the wknds (weather it be 1/2 hour or an hour) and work on one of my many other interests that doesn't require a computer (few and far between) . . . a few wknds ago i tried these FUN, FUN, soldered necklaces . . . thinking about offering them soon at Little Fish Designs - you send me the images and i do the rest - my head is reeling with all the fun things i could do! i'm doing a heritage necklace next . . . what a great keepsake! too bad i don't have any girls:)
